As, when和while都是連接詞，但在某些情況下，它們之間也會有一些差異。

As, when or while

我們可以使用as， 當(dāng)when和while表示“...“時間”，將兩個事件同時發(fā)生：

Another family arrived as we were leaving.

When my father was out working in the field, I helped with milking the cows, feeding the pigs.

還可以使用as， when和while 在過去，用來表示背景事件：

As she was leaving the court, a crowd of photographers gathered around her.

Steven was very unhappy when things weren't going well for him.

As

我們用as連接同時發(fā)生的兩件事。As之后，你可以用過去/過去的時間，用過去的時候強調(diào)一件事打斷了另一件事，或者在另一件事正在進行的時候發(fā)生。

As she walked to the door, she thanked them for a lovely dinner.

As they were signing the contract, they noticed that a page was missing.

When

我們可以使用when來介紹一個單一的、完成的事件發(fā)生在一個漫長的事件中間。在這種使用下，我們通常在主句中使用它來描述更長的背景事件:

He was walking back to his flat when he heard an explosion.

按照前后文，when可以表示“after”這個意思，也可以表示“at the same time”的意思：

When（=After）you open the file, check the second page.

I eat popcorn when I am watching TV. （=at the same time）

在同一時刻，我們經(jīng)常使用just和when連來表達事情：

The phone always rings just when I'm closing the front door.

While

通常我們用while連接兩個同時發(fā)生的事件，而且這兩個事件持續(xù)時間更長：

We spent long evenings talking in my sitting-room while he played the music he had chosen and explained his ideas.

We were lying on the beach sunbathing while they were playing volleyball.
